ACT is a high school option available to all Connecticut high school students. In order to attend ACT, you must be a resident of a Connecticut town and registered as a student in that town.

ACT has a three-part application process. All prospective students are encouraged to shadow before completing an application, audition, and administrative interview. A lottery process will go into effect if the number of applicants is greater than the number of seats available.

ACT’s schedule is Monday - Thursday 8:15 a.m. – 3:15 p.m, Fridays 8:15 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.

On average, class sizes are between 10 and 16 students.

No. However, ACT does have a dress code. As stated in the ACT Student Handbook, “Student dress may be regulated and students are encouraged to dress in clothing appropriate to the school situation. Restrictions on freedom of expression may be applied whenever the mode of dress is unsafe, disruptive to the educational process or contrary to law.

Administrators will use reasonableness and discretion when determining the appropriateness of attire. The school staff will enforce the dress code in a consistent manner that does not reinforce or increase marginalization or oppression of any group based on race, sex, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, ethnicity, religion, cultural observance, household income or body type/size. Enforcement of the dress code will be gender neutral.

Any school dress that impairs safety or increases the risk of injury to self or others, causes discomfort to others (e.g., uncleanliness, malodorousness, inappropriate language), causes distraction or disruption of the learning environment, advertises or advocates the use of alcohol or drugs, pornography, or is libelous or inherently contains unreasonable potential to upset and hurt others is prohibited.”

While ACT does not offer a visual art pathway, there are classes where students can use and improve on their visual art skills.
