Grants and the Community Arts Connection (CAC) After-School Program
Community Arts Connection (CAC) After-School Program
The Community Arts Connection (CAC) After-School Program at Windham Heights provides personalized learning, developing relationships, ongoing assessment, and developing authentic opportunities to reinforce academic skills. The program serves 50 children in grades 1-5 and their families. Through our collaboration with the Arts at the Capitol Theater (ACT) Magnet School, we use the arts as a motivating vehicle to support English Language Arts, math, science and social studies through integrated lessons and projects.
Interdistrict Grants
In collaboration with the Connecticut State Department of Education (CSDE) and local school districts, EASTCONN has been coordinating Interdistrict Grants for over 10 years. Our grants have allowed us to serve more than 1,200 students from over 30 partner towns in northeastern Connecticut and in Hartford. The interdisciplinary grants allow students to engage with culturally diverse peers through guided activities. The Interdistrict Grants encompass five individual grants: America’s Mosaic, Farming Land and Sea, Mindful Transformations, Faces of Culture and Forensic Detectives.
Mindful Transformations
Mindful Transformations brings together culturally and economically diverse students in grade 4 from different school districts. Activities and workshops help participants develop resources in self-understanding, acceptance, communication and goal setting. Students’ cultural understanding expands through a complement of experiential activities and mindful practices geared toward developing social and emotional understanding and regulation in the self and others.
