The Transition Resource Fair for EASTCONN-program students will be held Fri., May 3, 2019, from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., at the EASTCONN Conference Center, 376 Hartford Tpke., Hampton. There is no fee to attend, and pre-registration is required.
Students eligible to attend the fair are 16 to 24 years old, and are enrolled in, affiliated with, or attending any EASTCONN school or program, including In-School and Out-Of-School Youth Programs, the Summer Youth Employment and Training Program (funded by the Eastern Workforce Investment Board), Regional Transition Services (RTS), Woodstock Academy Cooperative (WAC), Clinical Day Treatment programs (NRP & EVC), Adult Education Programs, Arts at the Capitol Theater (ACT) Performing Arts magnet high school and Quinebaug Middle College (QMC) magnet high school.
The fair offers opportunities for students to network with community partners and local businesses, to explore career opportunities, practice workplace communication skills and discuss educational and training requirements for employment.
Among participating businesses are the American Job Center, CONNTAC, Connecticut Legal Services, Dept. of Developmental Services, Dept. of Rehabilitation Services, Dept. of Mental Health and Addiction Services, EASTCONN Driver Education, EASTCONN Food Services, FedEx, Kennedy Center Travel Training, Killingly Public Library, Planet Fitness, Quinebaug Valley Community College, Savings Institute, Spherion Employment Services, UConn Dept. of Nutritional Science, U.S. Military, United Way, Windham Regional Community Council, and more.
