This year-long community of practice for administrators focuses on the instructional shifts in Connecticut Core Standards (CCS) for both English language arts (ELA) and math. We guide school-level instructional leaders as they implement and sustain the expectations of the CCS. Key topics include methods for observing Connecticut Core Standards-aligned practice and determining student learning outcomes. Connections will be made to the Connecticut Digital Library and other resources that align with the Connecticut State Department of Education (CSDE) Systems of Professional Learning. Sessions are differentiated and equal time will be allotted for discussions of the ELA and math shifts.
Benefits: Participants will have an overview of the Connecticut Core Standards expectations for grade-level proficiency, leading to college and career readiness. Participants will trace a standard from grade-to-grade; examine grade level expectations; and learn how grade-level expectations lead to implications for curriculum, instruction and changes in instructional practices.
