Fifth-graders from participating districts integrate art, science and technology in the service of others through community projects. Interdistrict teams of students collaborate to plan, design, coordinate and present their finished products to community members. Through literature, students explore the concept of character and the ways in which it defines and creates community, while also improving their academic skills and increasing their understanding of diversity.

Benefits: In this unique program, fifth-graders from different participating school districts gain collaborative skills and a greater appreciation for community service. Students' knowledge of art, science, and technology will deepen as they integrate these subjects into a finished project. Through literature, students will explore the concept of character, while also exploring problems and solutions surrounding difficulties that affect a community's water supply. Representing different school districts, students increase their awareness of and appreciation for diversity, while improving their academic skills.
