EASTCONN manages the administrator testing program for the Connecticut State Department of Education. Individuals applying for their Connecticut Administration Certification must take and pass the Connecticut Administrator Test (CAT), which is administered at convenient sites around the state at different times during the year. The CAT consists of four modules. The first two modules require candidates to take the role of an instructional supervisor and to review, analyze, and prepare recommendations for support in response to a teacher's plan, student work and a video clip of a teaching episode. The two instructional analysis modules include an elementary and secondary school context. The second two modules ask candidates to take the role of an administrator, to review School Data Report (SDR) and community information and to develop a school improvement process. The two school improvement modules include an elementary and secondary school context.

Benefits: Taking the CAT allows educators to complete the final step in preparing for their administrative certificate (092). Once the CAT test standard is reached and required course work is completed, educators may apply for their certification through the Connecticut State Department of Education's Bureau of Certification. CAT tests are administered at convenient sites around the state.
