Our specialists can provide program monitoring and evaluation for programs serving children, birth through age 8. EASTCONN staff are trained in the use of evaluation tools such as the Infant/Toddler Environment Rating Scale (ITERS), the Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale (ECERS-R), CLASS (Classroom Assessment Scoring System), and the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) Accreditation classroom instruments. Classroom climate observations support a clearer understanding of current teaching practices, challenging behaviors and integration of strategies to promote conducive learning environments. Specialists are available to assist School Readiness Councils in monitoring funded programs and to work with school administrators to create appropriate walk-through protocols for preschool and kindergarten. Results can be used to inform program improvement.
