INACTIVE Social Studies Community of Practice

EASTCONN is committed to supporting social studies teachers and leaders in the implementation of the new Connecticut Elementary and Secondary Social Studies Frameworks within district social studies programs. We provide high-quality professional development, coaching and consultation to educators to deepen their understanding of major instructional and content shifts to ensure the alignment of social studies curricula with the new frameworks.


Benefits: Social Studies educators will deepen their understanding of the Connecticut Elementary and Secondary Social Studies Frameworks and its emphasis on the C3 Framework. This collegial community supports all of its members as they make connections to the Connecticut Core Standards, historical thinking, the inquiry process and the integration of state and local history when teaching social studies at elementary, middle and high school levels. Social studies teachers and leaders will be supported in the implementation of major instructional shifts, the design of inquiry-based performance tasks and the creation of formative and summative assessments aligned to the Connecticut Social Studies Frameworks.
