Food Services Update - February 16, 2023

As many of you may have read, Governor Lamont signed legislation Tuesday, February 14, 2023, extending the state’s free school lunch program through the end of the academic year. While we are eager to extend these benefits to your students, we ask for your patience as we await guidance from the state on how to proceed. We have communicated with the CSDE Child Nutrition Department. We have been assured that all parties involved are sorting out program funding and that everyone is working as quickly as possible to get the details ironed out at all levels. 
We will continue to update as we can. 

National School Lunch Program

In August of 2012, EASTCONN became an official sponsor of the National School Lunch Program. The majority of students in EASTCONN’s schools qualify for free or reduced lunch and EASTCONN’s Food Services was able to find a solution to the overwhelming need to provide healthy and delicious meals to the students in EASTCONN programs. With the implementation of this program, we can be sure that all of our students are provided with a healthy breakfast and lunch to maximize their learning potential.
