Pamela Skelly

Pamela Skelly is a Technology Specialist. She has provided technology consulting services to EASTCONN staff and school districts on topics such as the Internet, long range technology planning, and hardware and software decisions; developed and presented statewide and regionally. She has provided technical assistance and resources to EASTCONN staff and teachers in the EASTCONN service area. Pam is experienced with computer and network systems such as Windows/DOS, Macintosh, Windows NT, and Novell. She has written articles, proposals and reports. In addition, Pam is experienced in facilitation of groups using strategic planning. In her many years experience in technology, Pam has:

  • Integrated computer applications into schoolwide curriculum
  • Taught classes in applications and languages
  • Developed telecommunications activities
  • Maintained and upgraded computer systems.
  • Created pilot computer education program.
  • Prepared, reviewed and evaluated software.
  • Developed survey instrument, wrote program and summarized results.
  • Prepared lectures for Computer Literacy course.

Pam holds a Sixth Year Professional Education Certificate, a M.A. in Education with a focus on computers in education, and a B.S. in Elementary Education.

Debra S. Siegel

Debra Siegel is a consultant and trainer with EASTCONN Regional Education Service Center. EASTCONN offers services ranging from training in organizational development, strategic planning, change management, facilitative leadership, team building, conflict resolution, communication skills, performance evaluation, to custom-designed seminars in school and community restructuring.

She has worked extensively with the CBIA Education Foundation and the Connecticut Forum and Clearinghouse on School-Business Partnerships in the development and delivery of a customized curriculum in Total Quality Education for school district teams throughout Connecticut. In this capacity she continues to work with teachers, administrators, parents and other community members assisting them in rethinking the way schools are organized and administered so that the needs of educators, students, parents, business, industry, and the community are better met.

Debra has provided training, consultation and facilitation to numerous school districts including: Andover, Hebron, Marlborough and Region #8, Colchester, East Hartford, East Lyme, Hartford, Killingly, Lebanon, Mansfield, Somers, Tolland, Willington and Region #19.

Debra holds a B.S. in Speech Pathology and Oral Communications, a M.S. in Special Education and Rehabilitative Counseling, and postgraduate certification in Public School Administration.

Mary Lou Blanchette Smith

Mary Lou Blanchette Smith is a Staff Developer in EASTCONN’s Training & Development department. She has a B.S. in Animal Science, a masters degree in teaching, and holds her CT teaching certificate for grades K-6. She is a former classroom teacher and Director of Early Childhood Environmental Education. At present, Mary Lou works primarily with Interdistrict grants at the Elementary and Middle School levels.

Debra Stipe currently is a staff developer for Early Childhood and Early Literacy at EASTCONN. Debra received her B.A. in English from Framingham State College in Massachusetts and M.Ed. in Early Childhood Education at the University of New Hampshire. Her teaching experience includes five years at the secondary level and nine years in the primary grades, K-3.

Lisa C. Taylor is a Staff Development Specialist/Writer at EASTCONN. She has published two collections of poetry and is listed in both the American Directory of Poets and Writers and the International Who's Who in Writing. Her writing has appeared in numerous journals, magazines and anthologies. Her poetry was recently nominated for a Pushcart Prize. She just completed her first novel and a book on writing for teenagers based on the writing workshops she has done in schools for the past fifteen years. Lisa is also a Connecticut-certified professional educator.

Nancy Vitale is Interdistrict Grant Team Coordinator and has been at EASTCONN for 15 years. She has taught in alternative high school and community college settings. She offers skill and experience in helping teachers develop collaborative projects providing rigorous academic content linked to learning standards, and diverse human interactions across content areas, geography, race and gender.

Helen Weingart has been a staff development specialist and consultant with EASTCONN for over 15 years. She spent the previous 15 years teaching students ages 8-18 in a wide range of instructional settings. Helen has served as field staff to the BEST program and has extensive experience in coaching, group facilitation, designing and implementing training related to curriculum, instruction, and assessment. Specific areas of expertise include teacher evaluation and professional development, curriculum development, cognitive coaching, cooperative learning, and using student work as a tool to inform instruction.

Cyndi Wells, New Directions Youth Coordinator, has a B.S. in Social Policy and has been working in various areas of education for nine years. She is currently working towards a CT teaching certification and her masters degree in education. Her work with EASTCONN involves implementing a work readiness program for high school students. In addition, Cyndi facilitates the Interdistrict program, Skills for Success, in which students in grades 9-12 develop those skills that are most needed for success in any work, training or educational environment.
