NEDPLogoNational External Diploma Program

Through this free program, you demonstrate your high school-level skills and the ways you have applied them in real-life situations. Then, we work with you to evaluate your reading, writing, math and workforce-readiness skills. Instead of taking classes, you meet with an EASTCONN Advisor/Assessor who assigns you individual tasks that will help you earn your diploma. Graduates receive an EASTCONN adult high school diploma. Check out our latest brochure here.

“I would like to thank the Adult Education Program for all the things I have learned since starting here ... Without [your staff members] help I would have never been able to do this. It has been 30 years since I went to high school and coming to EASTCONN I am so much happier and comfortable with all the great people that work there. I would recommend anyone to attend there.” Belinda Warrender, GED student

English-as-a-Second Language (ESL) Tutoring

2genWe are seeking volunteer literacy tutors.

Our literacy program provides free tutoring to EASTCONN adult education students who need help with basic instruction in reading, writing and math. Tutoring can take place either with individuals or in a classroom setting. This volunteer program is one in which the student, teacher and volunteer all benefit. The student receives one-to-one instruction, the teacher is better able to meet the needs of the student and the volunteer is able to contribute in a meaningful way to his/her community. Each volunteer is matched to a student/program by examining the needs of the student, the location and time of classes and the volunteer's interests.

Volunteers interested in tutoring are encouraged to apply.
