QMC Graduation Requirements

Preparing Our StudentsForth
For Success in the 21st Century

Requirements for graduation are consistent with Connecticut mandates and include the acquisition of at least 25 credits for those graduating between now and 2022 and 27 credits for those graduating in 2023 and beyond upon completion of grade 12 at QMC. Each course offered at QMC incorporates objectives designed to enhance multicultural awareness and cultural competence. The recommended curriculum includes:

  • Mathematics: no fewer than 4 credits
  • Sciences: no fewer than 3 credits
  • Science, Technology, Engineering and Math Elective: 1 credit (2 credits for 2023 graduates)
  • English: no fewer than 4 credits
  • Social Studies and Fine Arts: no fewer than 5 credits
  • Health and Physical Education: 1 credit for 2020-2022 graduates
  • Health and Safety: 1 credit for 2023 graduates
  • Physical Education/Wellness: 1 credit for 2023 graduates
  • Health Care Careers 1 credit for 2020-2022 graduates
  • Career and Life Skills: no less than 2 credits
  • Open Elective: no less than 1 credit
  • World Language: no less than 2 credits
  • Community Service Learning: 1 credit for 2020-2022 graduates
  • Community Service Learning: no fewer than 50 hours: 1 credit for 2023 graduates
  • Senior Capstone Project: 1 credit for 2023 graduates
     

Students must also achieve a rating of “Proficient” on at least one formal, summative assessment in each Academic Performance Expectations area:

  • Effective writing
  • Active reading
  • Effective Communication
  • Problem-solving
  • Independent project development (senior Capstone experience)


Lastly, upon graduation, all students must exhibit:

  • Effective collaboration
  • Personal Responsibility
  • Social and civic competencies
