Advanced
Placement - Professional Development Program
EASTCONN staff consultants will work with
identified districts to develop and implement plans to increase the number
of AP courses offered, the number of students enrolled in AP courses, and
the passing rate of students in pre-advanced placement and advanced
placement courses. This will result in a variety of local, regional and
statewide offerings that will support educators in meeting the
aforementioned goals.
Benefits:
-
Specialized high school staff will have the rare
opportunity to participate in staff development that is focused on their
specific needs.
-
Grant participants will have the opportunity to network
with colleagues from other districts and have access to coaching and
mentoring that supports the teacher's professional development
positively and impacts student achievement.

Teaching American History Project
Teachers of American history
throughout the EASTCONN region are participating in grant-funded workshops,
seminars,
and a summer institute, working with historians, university faculty, and
museum staff people. Meeting in classrooms, museums, and local historical
sites, this grant-funded community of learners is focused on making better
use of local resources and primary sources in the teaching and learning of
history. In addition to sharing content information, lesson materials, and
teaching strategies at workshops, participating teachers are using
eSchool Builder, an Internet-based communication tool to share ideas.
Participating teachers receive CEUs and a $1000 stipend for each year of
this three-year project. You are invited to join this professional learning
community of American history teachers. For additional information and/or a
