PACE North (ProActive Cooperative Education)
The ProActive Cooperative Education Program (PACE) is a self-contained, segregated special education alternative for students with social/emotional and behavioral issues. Through an integrated approach, the program uses a combination of theoretical and research based models which focus on the "whole" child. Students learn in a safe and secure environment, in small groups, using a combination of behavioral and psychodynamic approaches to manage behavior and teach new strategies. Ongoing individual and group therapy, as well as assessment and coordination with parents and social service providers, helps students transition and ultimately return to a less restrictive educational setting. Medical professionals develop an individual health plan for students who have special health needs and/or receive medication. Location for PACE North is Dayville, CT. Grades K-8 (ages 5-14).

Benefits:

  • Students receive instruction in small group settings which helps them achieve to their best potential.

  • The integrated nature of the program ensures that all aspects of the child's needs are addressed.

  • Schools are able to ensure that potentially disruptive students receive a quality education without the expense of having to hire an individual instructor to work with them.

  • Field trips and social experiences help students learn to get along with peers and how to act in social situations.
