High
School Credentialing
EASTCONN offers
two different options for adults, 16 and older, who are seeking a high school
credential: the GED Diploma and the Adult Credit High School Diploma.
-
The GED test consists of a timed, five-part,
multiple-choice test on science, social studies, mathematics, reading, and
writing (which also requires an essay). To earn a GED Diploma, students must
obtain both a minimum score on each subtest and a minimum total score, as
well as produce an acceptable essay. The GED is offered in both English and
Spanish.
-
The Adult Credit High School Diploma option allows
students to combine previously earned high school credits with adult
education courses, independent study and projects, documented employment and
community service to fulfill state requirements for an EASTCONN high school
diploma.
Benefits:
Students are able to identify the high
school completion option that best matches their individual needs and learning
capacity.

Northeast
Regional
The Northeast Regional School
in Brooklyn is a regional alternative education program for high school
youth, grades 9-12, who have been unsuccessful in traditional school
settings. Students who are unmotivated, have difficulty with peer and/or
adult relationships, and/or achieve below grade level are potential
candidates for this program. Individually designed transition plans help
older students prepare for placement in vocational technical schools, the
workplace, post-high school education or other types of post-secondary
programs. Community-based activities, work study programs and field trips
are also offered.
