INTRODUCTION TO THE FIDDLE
Playing the fiddle is becoming an increasingly popular recreational activity, as
witnessed by the growth of fiddle clubs, magazines, and summer camps. In our
area, the Quiet Corner Fiddlers, the Old Fiddlers Club of Rhode Island, and the
Connecticut Bristol Old Tyme Fiddlers present opportunities for amateur fiddlers
to develop skills and perform in public. In this delightful class, an
experienced fiddler will teach you how to hold and play the fiddle, use a
variety of playing techniques, and read music. The instructor will also lead the
class in learning several tunes. Please bring a playable violin and bow and $20
for a book/CD package to the first class. To locate a rental or fiddle source,
contact the instructor at (860) 423-5403 or chckmrgn@juno.att.net. (Allow two to
four weeks to obtain a fiddle.)
