Adult Training & Skill Development Programs
EASTCONN offers many short-term, non-credit recreational and personal improvement courses to the community in the areas of: Business and Computers, Dance and Music, Languages, Leisure and Hobbies, Home and Garden, Arts & Crafts. Courses take place in both fall and spring and are offered both during the day and in the evening. Programs are offered in a variety of sites throughout the eastern Connecticut region. Prices are very affordable

Computer Applications Customized Training
Computer applications training is available on a fee basis, and may be customized. Follow-up coaching on- site at employer worksites is also an option. Computer applications training ranges from installation and troubleshooting to specific applications training. There is beginning, intermediate and advanced-user training available in the following courses:

  • Word Processing with Microsoft Word

  • Creating Spreadsheets with Microsoft Excel

  • Using Microsoft ACCESS to Create and Manage Databases

  • Creating Presentations Using Microsoft PowerPoint

  • Desktop Publishing Using Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and Quark Xpress

  • Computerized Accounting using Quickbooks Pro

Benefits:

  • Participants can keep current with the latest computer applications.
  • Cross- platform learning labs accommodate both PC and Mac users.
  • CEUs are available to those attending 5 or more hours of related skill training.

E.T.C. (Employment, Training, College)
The E.T.C. (Employment, Training, and College) Program helps EASTCONN Adult Education students and graduates successfully transition to a variety of post-secondary education and training programs. Students are assisted through this process by a Transition Coach and a series of preparatory workshops.

Benefits: With the assistance of a Transitions Coach, students learn about post-secondary options and develop a transition plan that can include visiting programs, as well as completing applications and financial aid forms to reach their post-secondary education goals.

Roads to Success
Up to 20 hours per week employability based program to help adults receive a high school diploma, improve their basic skills and get a job. Getting and keeping a good job can be hard, especially for adults who have not been part of the workforce or have a poor work history and lack basic skills. This intensive course provides instruction in basic skills and high school completion and development of employability skills. Students will prepare resumes, cover letters, and a career plan and learn job search and basic computer skills.
