PROGRAMS:

FULL PROGRAM
30 hours of classroom and 8 hours behind-the-wheel

EASTCONN Driver Education offers a Full Program that includes 30 hours of Connecticut-DMV-approved classroom instruction and 8 hours of behind-the-wheel driver training. The Full Program contains detailed information that will enable students to understand and safely execute the driving task. Students will be asked to apply their new driving knowledge during eight, non-consecutive hours behind the wheel.

The 30-hour classroom course will be presented in 15, 2-hour sessions. Behind-the-wheel training will be by appointment.

DRUG/ALCOHOL SAFE DRIVING PROGRAM
8 hours of classroom

If you are learning to drive from a parent or guardian and you are under 18 years of age, the state requires that you take an 8-hour Safe Driving, Drug & Alcohol Program. EASTCONN offers this 8-hour Safe Driving Program in two, 4-hour sessions. During the program, students will learn about the effects and consequences of driving and drinking alcohol; they will also study and discuss safe driving tactics.

This course does not provide the level of detail offered in the 30-hour course and there is no behind-the-wheel instruction. A minimum of 5 students needed to hold the class.

Cost: $125

* PARENT/GUARDIAN: If your teen obtained their driver permit on or after August 1, 2008, a parent/guardian is required to complete a two-hour class with the student concerning teen driving laws. The 2-hour class that you will be attending with your teen, will help you understand the new teen driving laws. We will also discuss how you and your teen can effectively work together to create a plan for their behind-the-wheel practice.

Please note: Students must complete the entire course in order to earn their Certificate of Completion.

Class Schedule:

►SAFE DRIVING PROGRAM: 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. on:
     • Saturdays, August 2 and August 9, 2008

These 8 hours of classroom will cover the effects and consequences of driving and drinking alcohol and safe driving tactics.
(This program is required by the State of Connecticut for those 16 and 17 year olds who are applying for a driver license.)

►FULL PROGRAM:
     • Tuesday and Thursday evenings, September 9 - October 28, 2008, 5-7 p.m

This program contains detailed information that will enable students to understand and safely execute the driving task. This program also contains 8 hours of behind-the-wheel practice.

Fees:

►FULL PROGRAM (38 Hours): $485.00

►SAFE DRIVING PROGRAM (8 Hours): $125.00

►INDIVIDUAL BEHIND-THE WHEEL: $55.00/per hour, 2 hour minimum. Cost for this behind-the-wheel training is based on leaving from and returning to the our location at 90 South Park Street, Willimantic. Further cost may apply for pick up and drop off at other locations.
