Take-A-Look Tuesdays |
| "Take-A-Look Tuesdays" offer the public an
opportunity to tour ACT, the half-day arts magnet high school program
located in the beautifully restored Capitol Theater in downtown
Willimantic. The tour gives families, potential students and members
of the community a chance to see the school in action, said ACT Facility
and Marketing Manager Adam Friedman. Tours are by appointment only. Tours take visitors behind the scenes of the theater, the audio/video rooms, set shop, dance studios, the classrooms, and offer a look at classes in action. "Take-A-Look Tuesdays" is open to anyone with an interest in the school. You do not have to have a child of school age to get a tour. You just have to be interested in what we do here at ACT. The recently renovated Capitol Theater boasts state-of-the-art equipment, audio/video editing suites, classrooms, two fully equipped theaters, a black box theater and set shop, dance studios, a cafe, and an art gallery. The Capitol Theater is located at 896 Main Street, Willimantic, and is also distinguished by its renovated theater marquis which greets passersby. EASTCONN, which operates ACT, the Capitol Theater Arts Academy and other events at the Capitol Theater, is a regional educational service agency serving 36 public schools in eastern Connecticut since 1980. The Capitol Theater Arts Academy, which offers morning and evening classes to student of all ages starting January 29, 2007, also operates out of the the Capitol Theater. ACT has been operating out of the Capitol Theater since 2005. To schedule a tour and find out more about the school, please contact Adam Friedman at 860-465-5636.
